Skill development, financial support and access to AI technologies are the main challenges facing Indian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) looking to adopt AI, according to a joint survey by Nasscom and Mehta released on Thursday.
According to the survey, around 94% of tech SMEs acknowledge that AI has the ability to drive business growth, and 87% expressed confidence in AI's potential to improve productivity across their companies.

“SMEs, the engine of India's economy, are at a critical juncture in today's rapidly evolving technology environment. The integration of AI offers SMEs a unique opportunity for unprecedented growth, increased productivity and sustainable innovation. Ecosystem collaboration and access to user-friendly tools and resources are essential for tech-enabled SMEs to harness the full potential of AI and for India to maximize the AI dividend,” said Sangeeta Gupta, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, Nasscom.
The whitepaper by Nasscom and Meta is based on an analysis of 300 technology SMEs across five Indian cities including Gurugram, Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai and Hyderabad.
