Skild AI acquires Zebra Technologies’ robotics automation business

AI For Business

Skild AI announced it has acquired Zebra Technologies’ robotics automation business, including the Symmetry Fulfillment orchestration platform, with the goal of transforming warehouse automation into an integrated, scalable system.

At the heart of the acquisition is Skild AI’s “Skild Brain.” It is an omnibody AI software designed to work across different types of robots without requiring prior knowledge of their physical shape. This technology enables a single layer of intelligence to control humanoid robots, autonomous mobile robots, robotic arms, and other systems across a wide range of warehouse tasks.

By integrating Zebra’s Symmetry platform, which coordinates robots and human workers in real-time, Skild AI can now deploy and coordinate entire robot fleets at enterprise scale. A unified platform eliminates the need for task-specific programming associated with individual machines, making it easier to adapt automation across environments and hardware.

This acquisition addresses long-standing challenges in warehouse automation, where systems are often fragmented and require costly redesigns when introducing new robots. Skild AI’s approach allows warehouses to implement a complete end-to-end solution without having to restructure operations around specific robots. The platform supports multiple use cases such as picking, packing, inspection, and material movement, all coordinated through an integrated orchestration layer.

The company has reported rapid growth, expanding to approximately $30 million in revenue within months of its 2025 launch, and is now in a position to accelerate its enterprise deployment. Founded in 2023, Skild AI focuses on building general-purpose foundational models for robotics and is backed by major investors including SoftBank and NVIDIA Ventures, with a valuation of over $14 billion.

Main quotation:

“Warehouse automation remains highly fragmented, and classic approaches are inadequate in most real-world scenarios, creating a fundamental barrier to achieving true operational efficiency. Tear down and rebuild warehouses to fit pre-programmed robots is not a viable economic solution. Zebra’s Human-Robot Orchestration Platform and Skild AI Zebra’s orchestration layer enables human participation to transform warehouses into a living symphony of human and machine autonomy, paralleling Skild AI’s ‘every robot, every task, one brain’ vision. ”

Deepak Pathak, Skild AI CEO

“Lack of automated understanding and complex operations continues to slow down warehouses. Combining Skild Brain with Zebra’s proven Personal to Goods solution transforms warehouses into hyper-efficient hubs.”

Abhinav Gupta, President, Skild AI
