Brilliant Labs, a Singapore-based startup developing ChatGPT-powered augmented reality wearables, has raised over $3 million in a seed round from investors including co-founders of well-known Silicon Valley companies.
Brendan Iribe, co-founder of Oculus VR, a virtual reality headset designer acquired by Meta, and Adam Cheyer, co-founder of Siri, a mobile-assisted app development company now part of Apple. Brilliant Labs recently announced its first product. This is his AR device that has a ChatGPT extension embedded and is like a monocle that users can clip onto their glasses. Equipped with a built-in microphone and smart camera, the gadget will allow users to build apps that can work with ChatGPT and other generative AI apps, the company said.
Ever since Brilliant Labs began shipping AR lenses in February, tech enthusiasts have been experimenting with the product. Recently, a group of students at Stanford University built an application for gadgets using his GPT-4, the brains behind ChatGPT. The application can generate text suggestions on the monocle’s display for what to say on a date or job interview.

Brilliant Labs was founded in 2019 by Tavangar, Raj Nagarja and Benjamin Heald. According to his LinkedIn profile, Tavanger previously worked at Apple as a program lead, Nakarja founded his own wearable computer startup, and Heald was a freelance product designer.
