Shannon Sharp wasn’t impressed with Ja Morant’s latest apology.
The NFL Hall of Famer mocked the Grizzlies star in his predicament on Wednesday’s episode of “Undisputed,” referring to a video of him holding a gun on Saturday. claimed to be the result of the intelligence program ChatGPT.
“Skip, that’s not it, Ja [talks]’” Sharpe told co-host Skip Bayless. “I don’t know if you know about ChatGPT, but they explain it to me. You can say, ‘Write me a love letter.'” [your wife] Ernestine…”
Bayless interjected that he has a peculiar style that prevents him from disguising the AI’s writing as his own.
“skip, [the apology] It’s AI-generated,” Sharp continued. “To apologize, you have to be sincere, you have to be verbal. Hmm, people will say you’re dishonest if you don’t.”
Morant, 23, appeared brandishing a firearm in a live Instagram video last weekend.
The Grizzlies immediately teamed him up, less than three months after he was spotted holding a gun in another social media video and subsequently received an eight-game suspension in March. Suspended from activity.
Morant issued an apology on Tuesday night.
“I know I’ve disappointed many people who have supported me,” he said in a statement via ESPN. “I realize this is a journey and there is still work to be done. My words may not mean much right now, but I take full responsibility for my actions. I would like to work hard to improve myself.”
As Morant’s words went viral online, one popular meme alluded to the athlete using ChatGPT to craft his statements.
While it’s much more likely that Morant used a professional PR team rather than AI, the meme raised eyebrows that the apology looks robotic.
NBA commissioner Adam Silver, who previously met with Morant following the incident earlier this year, told ESPN on Tuesday he was “shocked” by the latest video.
“We are investigating and trying to figure out as accurately as possible what happened,” Silver said. “The video is a little grainy, but I’m assuming the worst. I’m going to figure out exactly what happened there.”
It has been speculated that Morant could receive a bigger suspension this time around.
