Session on Application of AI in Government Sector held at Kohima Lok Bhawan

Applications of AI


A session on the importance and applications of artificial intelligence in the government sector was held on April 8 at Dr Imcongriba Ao Hall, Lok Bhawan, Kohima.

The program was organized as part of Sapta (Strengthening Adaptive Capacity Development and Humanitarian Aptitude for National Progress) observed under Karmayogi Mission as per the directions of Ministry of Personnel and Training, Government of India.

Deputy Director El Daniel Crocha and Senior Program Officer El Akmula Ayer, officials from the Directorate General of Information Technology and Communications, Government of Nagaland, moderated the session and highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence in enhancing efficiency, transparency and service delivery in government functions.

Er Daniel Krocha, Deputy Director of IT&C, emphasized that artificial intelligence (AI) is not meant to replace humans, but to augment their capabilities. Speaking on the vision of Vikshit Bharat 2047, he emphasized that Nagaland’s youth have unique strengths and offer an unprecedented opportunity to shape technological advancements to suit the needs of the country.

He said that if used responsibly, AI has the potential to bridge long-standing gaps between sectors. He emphasized the importance of human oversight and emphasized that AI needs to support the decision-making process, rather than replace human judgment.

Er Krocha further said that with the right approach and strategic steps, Nagaland can emerge as a model for effective and ethical implementation of AI in the country.

Er Akumla Aier, Senior Program Officer, highlighted several important aspects of artificial intelligence in his presentation. She described Generative AI as a game changer and highlighted its potential to bring about transformation across domains. This session also focused on building a foundational understanding of AI, its role in enhancing public service delivery, and sector-specific applications.

Additionally, she outlined the current AI landscape in Nagaland and emphasized the importance of ethical AI practices along with robust governance guidelines to ensure responsible and inclusive adoption.

Officers and staff of the Governor’s Secretariat and employees of Lok Bhawan Family Facility attended the session.

The program aimed to build officials’ awareness and capacity on emerging technologies and their practical applications in governance.

Prior to this, a welcome address was given by Kevin Gozo Visa, Permanent Secretary to the Governor, and a vote of thanks was given by the Jochule Division officers.
