Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken will participate in a “Conversation on Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the State Department” at the U.S. Department of State on Friday, June 28, at 9:00 a.m. ET, along with Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Officer Dr. Matthew Gravis.

Secretary Blinken will deliver a keynote address on the Department of State's accelerating progress in embracing AI to leverage advanced technology to enhance diplomatic efforts, streamline operations and improve decision-making processes. The effort aligns with Secretary Blinken's commitment to modernizing U.S. diplomacy, a vision he articulated in a 2021 speech at the Foreign Service Institute in Arlington, Virginia, where he highlighted the need to effectively address 21st-century challenges.

The Secretary of State's remarks will be followed by a panel discussion focusing on practical applications of AI within the State Department, featuring speakers including Under Secretary for Civil Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya, Under Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Elizabeth M. Allen, State Department Chief Information Officer and Director for Diplomacy Technology Kelly Fletcher, and U.S. Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti.

The event will be livestreamed on the Ministry's website and on the Ministry's YouTube channel.
