On March 18, Samsung SDS held the “Samsung SDS Industry Day” at the Sejong Convention Center International Conference Center for administrative and public organizations. Here, the company shared case studies and strategies for AI transformation (AX) for the public sector.

“Industry Day” is an event where Samsung SDS showcases its solutions and services and shares real-world use cases across various sectors such as public, manufacturing, retail, finance and defense. The seminar, the first Industry Day event of the year, was themed around AX in the public sector.

This event was held with the purpose of sharing examples of AX in the public sector and the direction of AX introduction with the central and local governments. This is in line with the government’s policy to expand the intelligent management environment powered by AI.

Last year, Samsung SDS secured shared AI infrastructure and intelligent work management projects across the government. Currently, the company provides related services to central ministries and local governments, supporting the spread of AX throughout the public sector.

Approximately 250 IT-related people from central ministries, government agencies, public corporations, and public institutions attended the event. Representatives from the National Information Society Agency (NIA) and the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, which are currently using Samsung SDS solutions, presented real-world application examples.

In separate sessions, the NIA (which implements the Government-Wide Shared AI Infrastructure Project jointly promoted by the Department of Science, Information and Communications and the Department of Home Affairs and Security) presented the government’s AX roadmap for the public sector and how to leverage the government-wide shared AI infrastructure. The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education shared an innovation case study focusing on organizational changes, implementation and stabilization processes, and operations after implementing the generative AI-powered collaboration solution Brity Works & Copilot.

The seminar also introduced the AI-powered public service request system, which was officially launched last month. Available as an integrated AI service on the Government24 portal, it leverages a shared AI infrastructure across government to process and respond to public service requests.

Additionally, Samsung SDS detailed its public cloud migration strategy, key considerations, and expected benefits of implementing cloud ERP under the SAP Premium Supplier Partnership. The company also presented strategies to prepare for the deployment of generative AI in public cloud environments, as well as plans to leverage AI data centers and deploy disaster recovery (DR) center systems.

Lee Jeong-hun, Executive Vice President and Head of Strategic Marketing Office at Samsung SDS, said, “This seminar was an opportunity to share our direction for promoting AX in the public sector and learn about real-world innovation examples. We will continue to provide our customers with insights on AX through industry-specific seminars tailored to various fields such as manufacturing, retail, finance, and defense.”
