Samsung is banking on AI as the future of its mobile devices, and while we've already seen the software powered by AI features in recent Galaxy phones, the hardware “could be radically different from Samsung's existing phones,” said TM Roh, president of Samsung's Mobile Experience Division (MX).

What will it look like? TM Roh didn't go into details, but the “radically different” comment suggests the mundane rectangular shape is on its way out. Roh noted that AI phones will be more “mobile,” but that doesn't necessarily mean they'll be smaller; they could have bigger screens and more sensors.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold6 benefit from support for the S Pen, as the AI can turn rough sketches into detailed images, but the AI goes beyond just manipulating and creating images, to audio, text, video, 3D, and pretty much anything you can think of.
Samsung has integrated headphones into its AI toolset (with language translation capabilities), so accessories may be part of that strategy, and foldable phones are particularly well-suited to using the dual displays for things like interpreter mode.
There are a few AI devices on the market today, but none have been successful, so they may not be a good indicator of what an “AI phone” should be like. This means Samsung is venturing into unchartered territory, so it's no wonder a major R&D push is needed.
