Samsung's upcoming foldable device in 2024 will feature a further optimized Galaxy AI, the South Korean electronics manufacturer announced on June 7. In a blog posted on Samsung's official newsroom, Samsung's EVP and head of mobile research and development, Wonjun Choi, said the company will “further optimize the Galaxy AI experience for upcoming foldable devices.” This is the first time that Samsung has officially acknowledged the existence of a foldable device in 2024.

In the same blog, Samsung confirmed that its Live Translation AI feature will be extended to third-party apps. Samsung said that the entire processing of real-time call translation for third-party apps will happen on-device, just like Samsung's native call dialer.

Earlier this week, 9To5Google reported that Samsung briefly ran an ad for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6 on its website in Kazakhstan, then quickly removed it. The mistaken ad was reportedly Samsung's first look at its upcoming foldable smartphones. Here are the details:

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6: What to expect

According to a report from 9To5Google, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will have a new frame design, giving it a boxy look. It also states that the phone will likely be wider than its predecessor, suggesting that it is expected to feature a larger, wider display on both the cover and the interior.

According to reports, an advertisement posted on Samsung's website shows the Fold 6 smartphone in a colour scheme matching the Galaxy S24 Ultra, suggesting that Samsung's next-generation book-style foldable smartphone may feature a titanium body similar to the company's flagship smartphones.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is reported to feature a similar squared-off frame design with a color-matched metallic ring around the rear camera. No major changes are expected from the Flip 6 in terms of display size.

Last month, The Verge reported that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 had appeared on Federal Communications Commission (FCC) testing records. According to the FCC records, the Flip 6 will likely come with a 3,790mAh battery, slightly larger than the current model's 3,700mAh battery.

Samsung's next-generation foldable smartphone is expected to be unveiled at its Galaxy Unpacked event next month.
