SEOUL, Jan. 5 (Yonhap) – Samsung Electronics aims to apply artificial intelligence (AI) technology to its entire product lineup with the vision of becoming an “AI companion” in users' daily lives, the company announced.

Samsung Electronics President Roh Tae-moon was quoted by the company as saying at an event held in Las Vegas on Sunday (US time), “By applying this technology across our product lineup and services, we will allow consumers to enjoy meaningful AI experiences.''

The event was held ahead of Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026, a major technology exhibition that is scheduled to officially open on Tuesday.

“We will be an AI partner in our customers' daily lives and lead the spread of AI experiences,” said Roh, head of Device Experience, which covers Samsung's mobile, TV and consumer electronics businesses.

In line with this vision, the company announced Vision AI Companion, a customized AI platform for Samsung TVs. This allows for a better understanding of the context of user conversations compared to other models.

The company said its latest TVs, due out in 2026, will feature the HDR10 Plus Advanced format, which provides cutting-edge brightness, color and motion processing.

The company also introduced its “Home Companion” vision, which aims to ease users' household chores through home appliances equipped with advanced screens, cameras, and voice recognition systems.

“Home companion vision is made possible by the overwhelmingly connected ecosystem, form factors optimized for communication through screens, cameras, and voice recognition systems, and the reliability of our products,” said Kim Chul-gi, head of the company's digital home appliance business.

Samsung Electronics said it plans to apply AI technology to its smart home platform, SmartThings, to enable various home appliances to work together and better understand users' needs.

During a press event, Samsung Electronics announced its vision to also incorporate AI into its healthcare application, Samsung Health, to provide a comprehensive and customized wellness experience.

In detail, the company said the program collects users' data on sleep, nutrition, and daily activities to identify potential signs of chronic disease.

This application provides training tips and recommends nutritional recipes based on the ingredients stored in your connected refrigerator.

The company also announced technology that analyzes users' walking speed and finger movements to detect potential cognitive decline.

President Roh said, “Samsung Electronics' products, services, and AI innovations aim to add more value to users' daily lives.” “As a global technology leader, we aim to expand our AI ecosystem built on responsible and ethical standards and become a true AI partner in everyday life.”

Meanwhile, LG Electronics, another major Korean consumer electronics company, plans to exhibit the latest AI-equipped home appliances at CES 2026 with the vision of “zero labor housing, creating quality time.''

The company said this vision will be realized through the LG CLOi robot, which can perform daily chores such as preparing breakfast and organizing laundry, as well as other AI-powered products such as washing machines and refrigerators.

“These movements are made possible by AI technology that recognizes the surrounding environment and learns about the user's daily life, and robotics technology that precisely controls the robot's fingers and arms.”
