AI Video & Visuals

US President Donald Trump, who often posts on the social media platform Truth, shared an AI-generated video depicting himself on Mount Rushmore, along with other X content owned by Elon Musk. Other videos posted on the US President's official government handle included an AI video of a SUMO wrestler and Trump fighting an old timer in overalls leaning against a barrel towards a song from “YMCA.” The latter is about the country store's decision to announce that the “old timer” logo is here to follow a wave of customer backlash.

This is not the first time a conversation has happened about Trump being part of Rushmore. Previously, Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.) formally requested Interior Secretary Doug Burgum to study additional feasibility. However, experts and park officials continue to highlight structural and philosophical barriers.

In a letter to the Home Office, Ogles urged Secretary Bulgham to consider expanding the Rushmoremount National Memorial. He cited Trump's domestic policy bill passed in Congress on Thursday, and the administration's ongoing border security initiative.

Ogles also shares his proposals on social media, suggesting that the monument should be updated to reflect recent moments in US history.

The Home Office did not directly comment on the expansion proposal. A spokesperson said Congress has seriously and thoroughly reviewed all communications from Congress. The National Park Service, which manages Mount Rushmore, issued a new statement in response. In the past, NPS officials have emphasized that the rocks surrounding current sculptures are not suitable for new sculptures.

In January 2021, Twitter, under previous leadership, permanently halted Donald Trump's account, citing concerns over the inciting violence following the Capitol riots. Trump and his legal team later sued the platform, claiming that the ban violated his First Amendment rights. The lawsuit was first dismissed in 2022, but continued as a legal battle. Even after Elon Musk acquired Twitter in October 2022 and recovered Trump's account, the incident continued. The recent settlement settles the conflict, with Musk's company agreeing to pay Trump $10 million.
