Revolute introduced an in-app artificial intelligence assistant, taking a strategic step to embed conversational AI into everyday financial services. The new feature, named AIR (AI by Revolut), is being rolled out to customers across the UK and is positioned as a transition from traditional app navigation to more intuitive conversation-based interactions.

AIR is designed to act as a deeply integrated financial assistant within the Revolut ecosystem, allowing users to manage different aspects of their financial lives through a single conversational interface. The assistant allows customers to access spending insights, track investments, manage subscriptions, and control their cards without navigating through multiple app sections.

The announcement reflects a broader industry trend toward “money intelligence,” where financial platforms leverage AI to provide contextual, real-time insights and streamline the user experience. By embedding AI at the core of its interface, Revolut aims to reduce friction in financial decision-making and increase user engagement across its services.

Beyond core banking functionality, AIR also extends to lifestyle use cases, including support for travel planning, travel budgeting, and facilitating purchases such as in-app eSIMs. This positions the assistant as a multifunctional tool that integrates financial management with everyday consumer activities.

The company also emphasizes data privacy in its deployment. AIR operates on a zero data retention policy with our third-party AI partners, ensuring that no user information is stored externally or used to train external models. The assistant only accesses data already visible to the customer within the app, such as transaction, card, and investment details.

Julia Ponomaverva, Director and General Manager, Revolut CX and AI Products said, “We believe the days of navigating endless tabs and menus are over. With AIR, we’re delivering a new level of money intelligence that’s both powerful and effortless. AIR isn’t just an assistant, it’s a co-pilot that enhances your everyday life, making managing your finances as easy and natural as sending a text. Importantly, Revolut customers are also firmly in the driver’s seat, ensuring their money intelligence never comes at the expense of their privacy.”

The introduction of AIR highlights the growing competition between fintechs and digital banks that seek to differentiate themselves through AI-driven user experiences. As institutions increasingly integrate generative and conversational AI into their platforms, the focus is shifting from standalone capabilities to fully embedded, ecosystem-driven intelligence layers that can personalize and automate financial interactions at scale.
