Resolve AI raises $125 million at $1 billion valuation to automate application maintenance

Applications of AI

Resolve AI Inc., a startup with a platform that makes it easy to fix problems in production applications, has closed a $125 million funding round at a $1 billion valuation.

Lightspeed led the Series A investment. Greylock, Unusual Ventures, Artisanal Ventures and A* also participated, Resolve AI said in today’s deal announcement. The company previously raised $35 million from a consortium that included prominent artificial intelligence researchers Feifei Li and Jeff Dean.

The root cause of an application outage is not always immediately obvious. Downtime can be caused by one of the application’s components, an external database where the application maintains information, or the underlying hardware. Developers must evaluate each possibility one by one, which can take a significant amount of time.

Resolve AI’s platform uses AI to accelerate tasks. The software identifies potential causes of malfunctions and creates an AI agent to investigate each one. These agents work in parallel, which is faster than checking for potential root causes sequentially.

The platform connects to the development team’s other tools to collect the technical data needed to perform troubleshooting. Integrate with monitoring applications, code repositories, cybersecurity software, and other information sources. It also compiles the collected data points into a regularly updated map of the components of a production application.

According to the company, its platform not only finds the root cause of malfunctions but also helps developers fix them. The suggestions that the software generates vary depending on the problem. When a container cluster goes offline, Resolve AI may generate commands that you can enter into kubectl, the tool developers use to manage Kubernetes. The platform can also generate configuration scripts and update application code.

Outage repair is not the only use case that the platform supports. Engineers can use built-in chatbots to explore the architecture of their application environment and identify future situations where problems may occur. Additionally, the platform identifies opportunities to reduce infrastructure costs.

Resolve AI will use proceeds from the Series A round to expand its go-to-market team. Additionally, the company plans to develop custom AI models that will allow the platform to automate more tasks for users.

“We are pursuing closed-loop automation to further accelerate the flywheel,” wrote Mayank Agarwal, co-founder and chief technology officer. blog post. “We focus on end-to-end production operations: root cause analysis, remediation, prevention, and containment.”
