Talent-Merge Director Clarence Kohh explains: Sheet Trade Maritime Special Report on Singapore Traditionally, candidates have only submitted their resumes as Word or PDF documents, which means all recruiters have to go with what’s on paper. To extend the range of applications, Talent-Merge has developed VirVit – Video Resumes and Video Recommendations. The VirVit app allows candidates to upload their video resumes and letters of recommendation. Candidates can typically upload three video resumes and choose the one that best fits the job they are applying for.
But for a recruiter, reading 20-50 resumes or watching the same number of video resumes is a time-consuming process, and AI has come to this process. VirVit has created its own proprietary algorithm to narrow down the selection of candidates. “One of AI’s hers is observing how the candidate is presenting, their facial expressions and emotions, and how excited they are about the job,” says Koh. The second factor is a comparison of the words used by the candidate and the job description. There are a total of 5 elements, each with a percentage score to the client’s requirements.
Koh uses the example of a candidate submitting a resume and video resume to apply for a director role. “We use AI to match how well the candidate matches the job description.” If there is a match, say she’s 70% or 80%, the hiring manager watches the selected video To do.
So how much time does this process save? If an open position receives 50 resumes and it takes 1 minute to review each one, that process alone will take 50 minutes. Instead, the system can throttle this process from 8 to 10. By using a video resume, recruiters can also get an impression of the candidate and how they can present themselves. Candidates will be selected as finalists from among these and will be interviewed via Zoom or Teams video.
Regarding the adoption of video resumes, Koh said that most of his clients see the benefits and are therefore trying to adopt them. But it also requires a “hands-on clap,” and while it’s not mandatory for candidates to upload a video resume, it gives them an edge over others, he said.
