The footage used to create the fake video was from Ranveer Singh's recent visit to Varanasi for a fashion show. The Bollywood actor recently turned heads at an outdoor fashion show along the Ganges River in Varanasi, along with actress Kriti Sanon. The show was curated by top couturier Manish Malhotra.

Ranveer Singh shared his experience of witnessing the cultural richness of the ancient city during his visit to Varanasi. In an interaction with the media, he praised the changes brought about by the overhaul of public infrastructure, while also sharing his “sacred” experience of the city.

Ranveer Singh did not specifically mention the incident in his social media posts. But it was clearly in response to his deepfake video.
