As artificial intelligence continues to blur the lines between reality and fiction, the increasing circulation of AI-generated celebrity videos has become a major concern within the film industry. Several actors and filmmakers have expressed displeasure with deepfakes and face-swapped clips, but such content continues to gain traction online. The latest AI video that has grabbed attention shows a heated argument between Mahesh Babu and SS Rajamouli, prompting a sharp reaction from the film’s director Ram Gopal Varma.

Ram Gopal Varma reacts to SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu’s AI video
On Tuesday, Ram Gopal Varma shared an AI-generated clip on X (formerly Twitter). The video shows Mahesh Babu and SS Rajamouli engaged in a brutal fight inside a cafe. The creator of the AI clearly stated that this video was artificially generated to avoid confusion. Despite this clarification, Varma seemed unimpressed and responded by tweeting a harsh message: “Movies are dead.”
The video also sparked mixed reactions among social media users. One person commented, “This AI content is too dangerous, please stop.” Another joked, “Better than Rajasaab’s VFX.” Some worried people wrote, “It’s scary and sad” and “I won’t watch this garbage even if it’s free, forget about paying.”
However, some viewers seemed amused by the clip. One user wrote, “At least Mahesh Babu has become more expressive thanks to AI lol.” One commenter said, “I wish they would play a match like this in Varanasi.” A fan added, “It was so much fun, sir. This kind of expression from MB is what we were missing in his movies. Thank you, AI.”
SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu’s first collaboration
SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu are collaborating for the first time in Varanasi, which is currently in production. The film stars Mahesh Babu in the lead role, Priyanka Chopra plays the female lead and Prithviraj Sukhummaran plays the antagonist. This ambitious project has already generated a lot of buzz due to its star-studded cast.
About Varanasi
Varanasi, which is touted to be a big action-adventure, will be the director’s next after SS Rajamouli’s RRR (2022). The film also marks Priyanka Chopra’s long-awaited return to Indian cinema after an eight-year hiatus. The teaser, released last year, got fans excited and hinted at a time travel theme.
At the teaser launch event, director Rajamouli revealed that Mahesh Babu will play Lord Rama in one of the sequences and termed it as a special cinematic moment. The film also stars Prakash Raj and features an antagonist who is in a wheelchair. Varanasi is scheduled to be released in theaters in April 2027.
