The policy was announced at the opening ceremony of the Rajasthan Regional AI Impact Conference 2026 held at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Center (JECC).
Mr. Sharma also announced the iStart learning management system, the Rajasthan AVGC-XR portal and the Rajasthan AI portal, aimed at promoting AI-driven education, start-ups, research, skill development and digital governance in the state.
“Effective use of technology is the cornerstone of future growth. Rajasthan is rapidly moving towards becoming a leading center of innovation, investment and good governance in the field of artificial intelligence,” Sharma said.
He said the Rajasthan AI-ML Policy 2026 has been introduced in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India mission to develop the state as an IT hub.
He said the policy focuses on expanding e-governance by ensuring responsible, ethical and safe use of AI and ML.
According to the statement, the policy has provisions to reduce bias in AI systems, ensure transparency, and protect privacy, with a special focus on data protection and cybersecurity.
It said there are clear procedures in place for reporting and resolving AI-related cybercrimes.
Under this policy, the state will acquire an artificial intelligence center of excellence.
Sharma said that under this policy, AI education will be promoted in schools, universities, ITIs and polytechnic institutions.
Each ministry will identify AI use cases in its field and appoint an AI node officer, while states will develop modern digital infrastructure, AI cloud services, and secure data storage systems.
Sharma said the National AI Literacy Program aims to make AI accessible not only to programmers and experts, but also to children and non-experts.
The first phase, titled “AI for All,” is a four-hour course that provides a simple and practical explanation of AI, including how to use it responsibly in creativity and daily life.
During the event, a MoU was signed between Google, Delhi Technological University and National Law University (NLU), Jodhpur.
In partnership with Google, AI and ML-based pilot projects will be implemented in healthcare, agriculture, transportation sectors, and citizen services.
