ORLANDO, FL, July 18, 2024 – Prolifics Inc., a leader in advanced AI and emerging technologies, is pleased to announce it will play a key role in a groundbreaking artificial intelligence video analytics program. In partnership with the AI Applied Consortium, Georgia Tech, DePaul University, and municipalities and cities across the U.S., the effort is poised to transform the management and assessment of urban multi-use trails and public areas. By leveraging cutting-edge AI technology, the program aims to provide actionable insights for urban planning and improve the quality of life for communities across the nation.
The AI video analytics program utilizes Prolifics' cutting-edge AI computer vision technology to analyze pedestrian and bicycle traffic patterns. This data is essential for economic impact studies, environmental benefits and strategic planning, ultimately increasing local business support and community engagement.
Prolifics' Video-Analytics As-a-Service AI system stands out for its advanced capabilities and strategic advantages. The system employs synthetic data and a state-of-the-art AI vision pipeline (including Large Vision Models) for comprehensive AI model training, which significantly improves video analytics insights and accuracy. Moreover, the technology is designed to be camera-agnostic, ensuring seamless integration with a variety of surveillance systems.
A key feature of the program is its privacy-focused approach to obfuscating personally identifiable information at the edge: By incorporating edge AI processing, the system retains no personally identifiable information (PID), ensuring data security and user trust.
“The AI Video Analytics Program demonstrates the power of public-private partnerships to drive technological advancements that benefit communities, and we are excited to be part of this effort,” said Konrad Konarski, vice president of AI and emerging technologies at Prolifics Inc. “Our approach not only leverages cutting-edge AI, but also values ethical considerations and privacy that are paramount in today's data-driven world.”
The initiative fosters community integration through educational workshops, research and development partnerships with universities, collaborations with nonprofits and engagement with businesses. This comprehensive approach aims to spur economic development and technological advancement across the United States.
“We are excited to work with the AI Applications Consortium and other partners to apply cutting-edge AI techniques to real-world scenarios. This project provides tremendous research opportunities for our students and faculty,” said Dr. Karthik Ramachandran, professor at Georgia Tech. “Our involvement allows academic insights to contribute to practical solutions, bridging the gap between research and real-world applications.”
The project aims to demonstrate the pedestrian and vehicular traffic analysis capabilities of AI computer vision solutions, focusing on multi-use trail and public area management. This comprehensive approach leverages the technological advantages of video analytics to strengthen community connections and promote local development.
“This program demonstrates our commitment to leveraging advanced technology to enhance urban planning and community engagement,” said Michael Brown, smart city lead at the AI Applications Consortium. “By bringing together diverse expertise, we are not only advancing technology, but also ensuring we have a positive impact on society and the environment.”
The program also aims to understand and reduce carbon emissions through the creation of multi-use trails that encourage greener commutes. The AI Applied Consortium contributes to environmental sustainability on a national scale by using deep AI video analytics to understand traffic patterns and promote pedestrian and bicycle paths.
The program is supported by notable figures such as Patricia Burke Hansen of the City of Brookhaven, Shawn Green of the Atlanta BeltLine, and Ilyas Ustun, director of data science at DePaul University. Their involvement highlights the program's commitment to community engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration.
An AI video analytics program is already in production and showing great potential in its early stages. This comprehensive “as a service” experience includes all necessary hardware, software and service support, allowing communities across the U.S. to benefit from the latest technological advancements.
