Progress awards third annual ‘Akanksha Scholarship for Women’ in STEM in India

Progress, a provider of application development and infrastructure software, has unveiled the recipient of the third annual Progress Software Akanksha Scholarship for Women in STEM in India. This scholarship is part of Progress’s Women in STEM Scholarship series, designed to enhance the global presence of women in computer science, software engineering, IT, and computer information systems in Bulgaria, India, and the United States, according to an official release.

In 2023, Soumya Teotia has been awarded the Akanksha Scholarship. Soumya is currently enrolled in a five-year dual-degree programme in computer science and mathematics at the BITS Pilani institution in Hyderabad. Her lifelong curiosity about the world has steered her academic journey towards STEM, with a specific focus on machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI), the release mentioned. 

“I am determined to explore the fields of machine learning and AI to the fullest extent. I hope to contribute to the development of novel applications, advancing the boundaries of technology and its potential to improve lives. Through the use of ML and AI I want to create solutions that can have a meaningful impact on society,” she said.

The Progress Software Akanksha Scholarship for Women in STEM is a renewable scholarship spanning four years, aimed at providing financial support for an Indian woman pursuing an undergraduate degree in computer science, software engineering, IT and computer information systems. This scholarship is intended to cover tuition, fees and educational expenses, as per the release.
