Amazon is coordinating the responsibilities of two senior executives, Albert Cheng and Jay Marine, as it aims to streamline its reporting structure and enable the Tech giant to move more quickly on AI opportunities.

It is the global head of sports and advertising, and is intended to monitor Prime Video in the US, previously handled by Cheng.

Mike Hopkins, head of Prime Video, is head of Amazon MGM Studios, which announced the changes, and said that moving across Prime Video's US business under Marine will “enable these teams to work faster and more collaboratively.”

Cheng, formerly VP of Prime Video in the US, envisions a new position to lead Amazon's investment in “creating new tools for creative partners that leverage the power of AI.”

In addition to leading the technology team at Amazon MGM Studios, Cheng said, “We are focused on empowering the best filmmakers and showrunners to lead content creation and do the most innovative work with AI, and in doing so, we are focused on creating even more quality content for our customers.”

Marine and Cheng will move to new positions in the coming weeks and details of the revised team structure will be announced.

Hopkins adds that the new structure “is clearly an opportunity to push the boundaries of locales where we use Amazon's size and technical leadership,” and that “it could provide our customers with a whole new kind of storytelling.”
