Prime Video has quietly stopped using its AI-generated content summarization feature after an error surfaced related to the pending release of Season 2 of the sci-fi drama Fallout, which is set to hit theaters on December 17th.
Specifically, the software, which was released in November, allows viewers to “Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan,””upload,””Bosch “”rig,” and “Fallout,” the latter starring Ella Purnell and Walton Goggins.
However, complaints quickly surfaced on social media from viewers who claimed that the recap incorrectly summarized scenes in the show, character relationships, and relevant factual information.
“Video Recaps is a breakthrough application of generative AI for streaming,” said Gerard Medioni, vice president of technology for Prime Video, in a November statement announcing the feature. “This first-of-its-kind feature demonstrates Prime Video's continued commitment to innovation and making the viewing experience more accessible and enjoyable for our customers.”
Earlier this year, Prime Video ended AI-generated news headlines after complaints from news sources such as BBC News.
