Polish hardcore band Węże (snake in English) employed artificial intelligence to produce the music video for their upcoming single “Pleśń” (type In English). The video has already been selected for the Silver Screening of the Berlin Music Video Awards 2023 on June 16th, 2023.
Scheduled to premiere on May 29, 2023, the video was directed, art directed and animated by renowned Brazilian creator Diogo Kalil. He has been incorporating AI-generated images into his projects since last year. Khalil tapped into his Midjourney to generate a compelling visual of the world-covering mold, which he animated using more conventional animation techniques.
The music band believes that this technology offers a wealth of new possibilities for lesser-known underground bands that otherwise don’t have the resources to create music videos. In the words of the band’s singer, “Music and video can and should complement each other when used effectively. For the first time in history, virtually every musician has video in mind.” Now that I can conceive and compose music on the fly, I’m confident that making music videos is well within reach.”
The band Węże was founded in Poland in 2022. The group’s line-up is fluid and has not been announced. Its musical style is equally difficult to define, drawing from a variety of punk, hardcore and metal inspirations. The band have released three singles so far, including “Fuck Putin”, released shortly after Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began.
