Police are investigating a viral video showing an individual similar to the former inspector of police Tang Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah police, who is said to be linked to receiving financial aid from someone entitled “Datuk.”

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the video, which began circulating on Tiktok's social media platform on June 20, was fake and was manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

“The video, which is said to link the former police chief to receiving financial support from an individual named Datuk Abdul Ghani, is that it was deposited into a bank account and is not entirely true and unfounded.

“The Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters emphasizes that the 13th Police Inspector did not release a statement as depicted in the video,” he said in a statement reported by Bernama.

Hussein said Acryl Sani had filed a police report denying that the video contained an official statement from him.

He also advised the public not to share videos, urging them to confirm the credibility of their content before believing it or spreading it on social media.

“The Selangor Police take the misuse of technologies such as AI seriously for fraud and slander purposes that could undermine the reputation of any party.

This case is investigated on June 22, 1998 under Section 419 of the Criminal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
