Announced at Global Fintech Festival (GFF) 2025, the new device is built on Paytm's popular Payment Soundbox series, but it has added a conversational AI layer that allows sellers to operate the system in 11 Indian languages. AI assistants can answer questions about payments, sales trends and performance, turning Soundbox into what the company calls a “business intelligence assistant.”
The Android-based device features a dual screen with a front touchscreen and a top display for payment renewal, and supports dynamic QR codes, taps, and card transactions insertion. Connection options include WiFi and 4G to ensure reliability across the retail environment.
According to Paytm, the goal is to extend artificial intelligence tools to India's vast network of small and medium-sized businesses, from local Kirana stores to cafes and retail chains, allowing access to real-time insights without complex software configurations.
“From QR-based payments to soundboxes, we are entering an age of intelligence,” Paytm founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma said in a statement. “Our AI-first products are designed to make the power of AI comprehensive and reliable for any business.”
The announcement comes amid growing wave of AI integration in India's fintech sector as more companies are embedding machine learning into payment devices and merchant analytics tools to drive efficiency and engagement.
