Irish video content management startup Overcast HQ has raised €1.2 million from a number of angel investors to meet growing demand for its AI-powered platform.
These include Paddy Flynn, VP of Maps at Google, Professor Anil Kokaram, Head of Electronic Engineering at Trinity College Dublin and former head of YouTube's media algorithms team, David Shackleton, who sold Openback to X (formerly Twitter), and George Kilpatrick, Chief Revenue Officer at Overcast HQ.
Founded by CEO Philippe Brodeur, who previously worked at the BBC, Overcast HQ markets itself as a video content-as-a-service company that works with some of the world's biggest brands, including Diageo, Vodafone and Mediatel.
The company recently launched a set of generative AI capabilities for its platform, enabling customers to perform tasks such as automating metadata tagging, discovering content through conversational search capabilities, and accelerating time to market.
Brodeur, who founded Overcast HQ in 2015, announced the funding today (June 4) and thanked investors for “their confidence in the company.”
“We are seeing growing demand among the world's largest brands and broadcasters for next-generation video asset management solutions that will help them leverage their assets and deliver deliverables faster than ever before,” said Brodeur.
The new funding will be used to further expand the team, continue investing in AI product development and grow its global customer base. The company is based in Dublin.
Overcast HQ recently hired James Whitebread as its new director of AI, having previously held a variety of leadership roles at companies including Hotelbeds and the Royal Opera House.
Whitebread will lead new AI capabilities and oversee the launch of new AI products in the pipeline. The company is currently gearing up for its Series A funding round.
