In development that no one is surprised, Openai is preparing to release a standalone social app with the upcoming Sora 2 video model. Wired Report. The app is reportedly “very similar” to “Tiktok”, which has vertical video feed and navigation between swipes. catch? Only content generated by AI is included. There is clearly no option for users to upload photos or videos from their phone's camera roll.
Wired Adding Openai limits SORA 2 to generating 10 seconds or short clips for use within the app. It is unknown that model restrictions are outside the app. Tiktok allows people to upload the latest clips, following the original 15 seconds limit. It is also said that the new app will include an ID verification tool. If users take advantage of the feature, Sora 2 can use portraits with the videos they generate. This means that others can then tag those users and use the portrait when remixing one of the videos. As a safety precaution, Openai pushes a notification to the user whenever someone else uses the likeness, even in situations where someone is making a video but doesn't post it in the app's feed.
According to WiredThe software refuses to generate some videos due to copyright restrictions. However, it is not clear how robust these protections will be. Openai requires a rights holder to opt out of content that appears in the videos generated by Sora 2.
