Bhubaneswar: Under the Ministry of Water Resources, the State's Water Informatics Centre (SWIC) has collaborated with Indian Institute of Technology and has held a technical workshop on “Introducing data management and digitalization of water resource surveillance using artificial intelligence (AI)”.
The purpose of the workshop was to strengthen the technical and institutional capacity of government officials, domain experts, and key stakeholders involved in water resource governance.
The initiative seeks to promote the adoption of emerging artificial intelligence (AI) tools, best practices, and technical frameworks to promote data-driven planning, efficient surveillance, and informed decision-making in the water sector.
The workshop was launched by Development Committee-Cum-Additional Prime Minister Water Resources Division Anu Garg. AnuGarg highlighted the importance of technology integration and intelligent data systems in addressing the growing challenges of water resource management.
We are preparing “Viksit Odisha @2036 @2036's Vision Document” and “Viksit Bharat @2047”. Looking at the various chapters, there are relevances between women-driven development, climate-dependent Odisha, or good governance, digitization, and data management.
In his keynote address, SWIC Director Krushna Chandra Mohanty highlighted the need to adopt a data-driven governance model to ensure sustainable and equitable use of water resources.
This initiative is consistent with the government's vision to leverage advanced technologies for sustainable and integrated natural resource management. The workshop features technical sessions led by subject experts and focuses on real-world applications of AI in areas such as real-time water resource monitoring, predictive analytics, and digital data system development.
