New Delhi: Chip makers NVIDIA and SoftBank Corp. have teamed up on a platform to power generative artificial intelligence (AI) and 5G/6G applications based on the Nvidia GH200 Grace Hopper superchip. A Japanese multinational company plans to deploy in its own distributed AI data center. All over Japan.
SoftBank will work with Nvidia to build a data center capable of hosting generative AI and wireless applications on a “cost-saving, energy-efficient, multi-tenant common server platform,” the companies said in a statement.
The platform uses the Nvidia MGX reference architecture with the Arm Neoverse-based GH200 superchip.
SoftBank is considering developing 5G applications for autonomous driving, AI factories, augmented and virtual reality, computer vision and digital twins, according to a statement.
“As we enter an era in which AI and society coexist, demand for data processing and electricity will increase rapidly. SoftBank Corp. President and CEO Junichi Miyagawa said, We will provide next-generation social infrastructure that supports a digital society.Collaboration with NVIDIA will enable our infrastructure to achieve significantly higher performance by utilizing AI, including RAN optimization. .”
Nvidia Founder and CEO Jensen Huang said: “The Nvidia Grace Hopper is a revolutionary computing platform designed to process and scale out generative AI services.”
SoftBank’s new data center will handle both AI and 5G workloads, allowing it to operate better at peak capacity with lower latency and lower energy consumption, the companies said.
