  • Nvidia and Openai are partnering with AI infrastructure buildouts.
  • The chipmaker said it would invest up to $100 billion in Openai “to support this deployment.”
  • With this transaction, companies will use NVIDIA chip systems to build and deploy AI data centers of at least 10 gigawatts.

Nvidia and Openai are becoming strategic partners, with Chipmaker saying they will invest up to $100 billion in AI companies to help build AI data centers.

Twe Tech Titans announced a deal on Monday confirming it will build “at least 10 gigawatts” of AI data centers running NVIDIA systems.

“Nvidia and Openai pushed each other for 10 years, from their first DGX supercomputers to their ChatGpt breakthroughs,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said in the release. “This investment and infrastructure partnership marks the next leap. We will unfold 10 gigawatts to promote the next era of intelligence.”

Nvidia's share price rose 4% since its announcement.

According to the company, the first phase of the partnership is “to use Nvidia's Vera Rubin platform and get online in the second half of 2026.” Nvidia's Rubin's Platform has a new CPU and networking architecture.

“It all starts with Compute,” said Sam Altman, CEO of Openai, who has been trying to attract billions last year to fund the development of the company's AI frontier models, such as the GPT-5.

“Infrastructure calculations will be the basis for the future economy and will use what we are building at NVIDIA to create new AI breakthroughs and empower people and businesses on a large scale,” Altman said in a statement.
