Nvidia boss tells employees to use AI even if it’s not working

Applications of AI

  • Nvidia co-founder and CEO Jensen Huang was shocked to learn that managers were telling employees not to use AI.
  • The CEO said that even if the AI isn’t working, employees should use it until it does.
  • Nvidia has increased its value to $4 trillion on the back of the AI boom.

AI is very popular, or at least that’s what people say all the time, creating platforms that attract billions of dollars of investment.

However, it seems like bosses need to constantly tell their employees to use technology because they aren’t using it. People have different reasons for not using AI, but generally people don’t use AI because they fear it will be replaced, the AI isn’t very good, or their business policies simply don’t allow it.

With companies like Nvidia pushing AI models around the world, you might think that their employees are doing all sorts of exciting things with AI, but that’s not actually the case.

During an all-hands meeting last Thursday, Nvidia co-founder and CEO Jensen Huang had to encourage employees to use AI more frequently.

“It is our understanding that some executives at Nvidia are directing their employees to reduce their use of AI,” he said in a recording of the meeting, which was obtained by Business Insider. “Are you sane?”

Hwang is not the first to encourage the use of AI, nor will he be the last. In October, Business Insider reported that EA employees were struggling to use AI, even as managers crammed the tools down their throats. EA employees said the tools they had access to generated flawed code and generated illusory responses instead of real ones.

However, Huang didn’t seem to mind this and encouraged his employees to use AI if it wasn’t working. The CEO reportedly said, “Go with it.” [AI] until that happens [work]”Further encouraged employees to actively participate in making AI better. To further encourage employees, the CEO sought to allay concerns that AI would replace workers. The company reportedly employs more people than any other company, and Huang said it will likely need 10,000 more workers.”

As the hardware provider of choice for AI workloads, Nvidia is well-positioned regarding the current state of AI, but it also stands to lose much of the $4 trillion market cap it has built on AI if the space collapses.
