Ahead of the open beta launch “Coming Conging,” there is no Android 16 update, Nothing OS 4.0, and none of its new features and design.
OS 4.0 was not announced earlier this year along with the phone (3), but I have not seen the design so far. However, no new posts and videos detail the new ones in the Android 16 update.
OS 4.0 is a visual update first, with “a sharper, more thoughtful design across all layers.” In particular, nothing points to other adjustments such as the new lock screen clock, updated quick settings panel, and Nothing app.
There is also a new “Extra Dark” theme with a true black theme, as opposed to the typical dark gray theme on Android.
Multitasking is getting an upgrade with the floating app icon, but nothing expects improvements to both general performance and camera. The latter comes from “Truelens Engine.”
Finally, there is a new AI dashboard that breaks down the use of none of the AI features. Specifically, AI models that use AI models, such as Whisper, GPT-4O, and Gemini Flash, are decomposed.
There's nothing that OS 4.0 will unfold “quickly” but there's no specific date. Also, this could be started with a phone (3), but the update will eventually advance to phone (2), phone (2A), phone (3A), and CMF phones.
