NetSuite allows organizations to connect their own LLMs to data within NetSuite. However, this NetSuite AI Connector service promises more than this basic feature. With the adoption of Model Context Protocol (MCP), NetSuite must be the most intelligent, scalable, “AI-enabled” ERP platform.
Brian Chess of Oracle Netsuite, the SVP of Technology and AI, recommends viewing this integrated service as more than an addition to MCP. “NetSuite AI Connector Service offers customers a secure, flexible and scalable way to connect their own AI to NetSuite.”
Many benefits
According to Chess, developers can determine exactly how AI systems can see and execute accurate permissions and role-based access settings. “Bring Your Own AI” is a magic word, supporting multiple assistant or agent platforms simultaneously.
The word “integration” probably scares some people. Chess acknowledges that AI integration with ERP systems can be challenging, but new features should make deployment and lifecycle management easier. Additionally, integrated services are well known to veteran NetSuite users. Existing scalability models are applied here to prevent “dangerous workarounds” or shadows.
ISVs can use this to build and package SuiteApps and, according to Chess, build a “new category of intelligent ERP extensions.”
Another ERP path
NetSuite itself acknowledges that it has chosen another strategy for implementing AI within its ERP system. Partys like Salesforce choose “built-in” solutions and present this to customers as an option, but NetSuite hopes to place new products as a more flexible alternative. Implicit Message: They want to use other people's agent AI to make this offering a free choice for their customers.
We are still early enough in adopting Agent AI, where many organizations have not developed a development strategy for their implementation. This means that companies like Oracle Netsuite can set up stacks to direct their customers in a specific direction. However, vendors clearly oppose this interpretation. In other words, true standardization could be several years ago. For now, NetSuite aims to be a mobile target, allowing its own AI-ERP connection to work as needed.
