Agadir – Morocco and France reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral cooperation in digital technologies and artificial intelligence during talks in Geneva today.
The meeting took place between Morocco’s Minister for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Mr. Amal El Farah Segrushni, and France’s Minister for Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies, Anne Le Henanf.
This took place on the sidelines of the first Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence Governance, where the two ministers discussed expanding cooperation across several strategic areas, including research and innovation, talent development, support for startups and business, integration of AI into the economy and public services, governance, digital infrastructure, and digital sovereignty.
The discussion also explored Opportunities to build partnerships around co-innovation, skills transfer and strengthening local capacity.
Speaking after the meeting, Segrushni said that Morocco and France are preparing a follow-up meeting in Rabat in mid-July to deepen bilateral cooperation in artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
He noted that Rabat and Paris share common goals of increasing competitiveness, strengthening digital sovereignty and reducing dependence on technology.
The minister also emphasized that both countries support a human-centered approach to privacy protection, security by design, and technology-based artificial intelligence that serves the public.
He reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to international efforts on AI ethics, citing Morocco’s contribution to the recommendations developed by UNESCO.
Mr. Le Henenff said that the debate in Geneva was Ongoing Cooperation between Morocco and France on digital issues.
She pointed to significant opportunities for collaboration in innovative business ecosystems, cloud computing, and accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence across government and private enterprise.
The French minister added that the two countries share a common vision on digital sovereignty, the protection of citizens, especially the most vulnerable, and ensuring that the development of AI is in line with common values.
Le Hennanf said that Morocco is a strategic partner for cooperative development in artificial intelligence and digital technologies, noting the increasing importance of bilateral relations in shaping responsible AI development and digital innovation.
