Baltimore – Building on its ongoing efforts to enrich the campus learning environment through AI integration, Morgan State will work with the Amazon-Machine Learning University (MLU) Educators Consortium and the Amazon-MLU Transformation Alliance to enhance its curriculum and research by implementing AI and machine learning (ML).
Morgan is one of several institutions participating in this effort, historically aimed at developing comprehensive AI education pathways within Black universities and universities (HBCU), ultimately preparing students for a burgeoning and desirable AI/ML career. Participating Morgan faculty will be engaged in a series of monthly activities, including training boot camps, AI/ML education labs, high-tech talk, and roundtable discussions aimed at advancing knowledge in these areas.

The Amazon MLU Transformation Alliance combines Amazon leadership with educators and administrators to help build institutional capabilities in AI/ML education and research. Through comprehensive technical bootcamps, virtual training sessions, and year-round professional development opportunities, educators will acquire expertise in AI and ML concepts powered by AWS Cloud Technology. For the 2025-26 cohort, Morgan has 10 faculty members and represents at least four schools.
Launched in February 2025, the program began with the first MLU-HBCU AI/ML Teaching and Research Symposium, marking the ongoing training and support activities. Participating institutions have access to open source content that seamlessly integrates with existing curricula, allowing the development of new courses and programs.
During this inauguration year, the program will help serve more than 250,000 students to 200 faculty and 25 executive administrators through a nine-month cohort focused on building AI/ML teaching capabilities. Through comprehensive technical bootcamps, virtual training sessions, and year-round professional development opportunities, educators will acquire expertise in cutting-edge AI/ML concepts powered by AWS Cloud Technology.

Now, Amazon is working with 29 HBCU to promote the talent of a diverse range of engineers while democratizing access to the industry-aligned artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) curricula.
