Tech leaders and academics are still researching the implications of generative AI, which has captivated many organizations around the world to adopt generative AI in their workforce. However, workers do not have the necessary skills to implement it. With this in mind, Microsoft has introduced a new program for employees to train her AI.

“We are launching a new AI Skills Initiative to help people and communities around the world learn how to harness the power of AI,” said Kate Behncken, corporate vice president of Microsoft Philanthropies, via LinkedIn.

This program offers free courses with certification through LinkedIn. The course covers basic AI concepts such as responsible AI frameworks, and a certificate is awarded to those who pass the assessment.

The Generative AI Professional Certificate will be available in English, but will be available in other languages including Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese on LinkedIn Learning in the coming months .

This coursework is part of six other Career Essentials Professional certifications offered by Microsoft’s Skills for Jobs program, with free access through 2025.

Microsoft also introduced a toolkit for teachers, trainers, and facilitators who play a key role in providing skills resources and training to their local communities. The toolkit includes short downloadable content for trainers, including new AI courses designed for educators by Microsoft Education and content about the practical use of AI.
