The Redmond-based tech giant revealed at Microsoft Build 2024 that its Edge browser will have a new real-time video translation feature: leveraging AI capabilities, Edge will translate videos from one language to another and can also provide subtitles for users who are hard of hearing.

Microsoft said it knows there is a huge amount of video available on the Internet, but many of them are not accessible. For example, users who are hearing impaired may struggle to find accessible content that meets their needs. Others are hindered by language barriers – they may want to understand and watch a video but are unable to do so because they are not familiar with the language.

Microsoft says the feature will be available on video websites such as YouTube, LinkedIn, Reuters, CNBC News, Bloomberg and even Coursera.
Real-time translation is available for Spanish to English translation and also supports English to German, Hindi, Italian, Russian and Spanish translation.
Microsoft did not provide any details. when The feature is set to be introduced in the browser, but is said to be “coming soon.”
