Cognizant's partnership with Microsoft could help alleviate some of this problem, as Cognizant's consulting services can help companies find ways to leverage co-pilot as part of their business processes.
Bernard Marr, author of the book Generative AI in action: 100+ amazing ways generative artificial intelligence is changing business and societybelieves this partnership represents a major shift in the way CIOs approach digital transformation.
“This means we can leverage AI technology to increase operational efficiency, reduce manual labor, and enable innovation at scale,” he said. “CIOs need to align AI-driven solutions with broader business strategies and ensure seamless integration into existing processes while addressing potential challenges such as data security and ethical use of AI.” This partnership will give CIOs access to AI tools that can significantly accelerate innovation and improve the customer experience.”
However, Ma said that reducing the need for labor through AI automation does not necessarily translate into lower costs. AI can streamline workflows and increase productivity, but AI infrastructure, training, and ongoing maintenance require significant investment, he said.
“Furthermore, the value delivered by AI goes beyond the automation of simple tasks; it includes enhanced innovation, improved quality, and additional capabilities that would otherwise require extensive human resources. ” he added. “So while AI can reduce manual labor, its cost impact should be seen in the broader context of the added value that AI brings.”
AI concerns remain
The collaboration between Microsoft and Cognizant may help CIOs better incorporate generative AI into their corporate strategies, but its use remains uncertain, Ma said.
