This is exactly the stimulus Mark Zuckerberg was hoping for.
According to Sensor Tower estimates, Meta AI has reached an all-time high in the number of daily web visitors in the United States. Meta’s iOS AI app has been downloaded approximately 46,000 times, with downloads on the Apple App Store in the U.S. increasing by 87% per day.
As of Thursday night, Meta’s AI assistant and glasses app was No. 6 among the most downloaded free apps, a significant improvement from its average ranking of No. 65 last month.
The market intelligence firm said the surge exceeded the United States.
“Excitement surrounding Meta AI’s new AI model, Muse Spark, was not limited to the US. App downloads on iOS in Canada, the UK, France, and Germany increased by 51%, 32%, 27%, and 25%, respectively, over the previous day,” Sensor Tower wrote in a report.
Muse Spark is the first AI model released by Meta Superintelligence Labs. Meta has invested billions of dollars in building AI, including a $14 billion investment in Scale AI, which led to the poaching of Scale AI co-founder Alexandr Wang. Top Wall Street analysts were satisfied, and Meta’s stock price rose.
“Muse Spark is the first step on our expansion ladder and the first product in a complete overhaul of our approach to AI,” Mehta said in a release.
Abe Yousef, senior insights analyst at Sensor Tower, told Business Insider that as of Thursday, Meta’s AI app had not ranked in the top 10 of the U.S. Apple App Store in more than 90 days. Its all-time peak at #2 was recorded on April 30, 2025, at the time of its release.
Meta’s surge shows that AI companies are increasingly leveraging viral moments to tap into the consumer-generated AI market dominated by OpenAI’s ChatGPT. OpenAI announced Wednesday that ChatGPT has 900 million weekly users.
One of OpenAI’s main rivals, Anthropic’s Claude, briefly usurped ChatGPT’s US Apple App Store throne shortly after an outpouring of public support following the Pentagon’s decision to effectively blacklist Anthropic.
Overall, AI continues to dominate the App Store. Four of the top six most downloaded free apps are AI-related.
6th place goes to Meta, 5th place goes to Google Gemini, and 3rd place goes to Anthropic’s Claude. ChatGPT once again loses its crown, finishing in second place, this time behind Augusta National’s Masters Tournament app, which provides exclusive coverage of golf’s first major tournament. The first round of the quest for the famous Green Jacket began on Thursday.
