META deploys a new range of AI-based video editing tools under the Meta AI platform, providing short-form video enhancements for content creators. These tools allow users to apply automatic visual transformations using preset AI prompts, marking the latest push of meta to the generated video editing.
Available through the Meta AI app, the Meta.ai website, and a standalone app called Edit. This tool offers US users the ability to quickly stylize short videos up to 10 seconds. Editing, an alternative to meta to apps like Capcut, is positioned as an accessible tool for casual creators and influencers.
The editing system is inspired by Meta's internal film Gen AI models, but the company has not made clear whether those exact models are being used. Users can choose from 50 different preset effects including changes to clothing style, scene settings and visual filters. Effects range from comic book themes to film lighting simulations.
These features are designed to meet creators' needs for fast and accessible editing workflows. Feedback from creators influenced the development of presets. Presets can turn everyday clips into stylized content for quick sharing across Facebook and Instagram.
Meta shows that additional personalization options are expected to be released later in 2025. For now, I'm focusing on making video productions that look professionals more accessible and intuitive.
A Meta spokesperson explained, “Our aim is to enable people to experiment creatively and create fun and shareable videos without the need for advanced editing skills.”
This update is based on Meta's existing AI tools focused on image generation and will strengthen the broader strategy of the company supporting creators within the platform. The move reflects larger industry trends as companies such as Google and Caption have invested heavily in AI-powered media tools.
By adding AI video editing to the suite, Meta wants to retain creators who may seek advanced tools elsewhere.
