Meta has rolled out its AI assistant Meta AI to more platforms. This means that Facebook and Instagram users can now access the chatbot. But just because it works, shouldn't it?
If you use the Facebook or Instagram apps, you may have noticed a new blue and purple circular icon in the search bar and at the top of the app. When you join a chat with the AI, you can generate images or GIFs of her, ask for text summaries, and ask questions that generate answers from a variety of sources. By interacting with a chatbot, you are granting it access to certain data, including personal information, that you share with the chatbot.
Meta's AI terms state:
“We may process personal information, including sensitive information, as described in our Privacy Policy, including to improve AI and related technologies.”
Some of this data may be provided to third parties to improve our products. Meta AI chatbot said in the chat that it does not retain information from our chats, but the terminology is different.
“When information is shared with an AI, the AI may retain that information and use it to provide more personalized output. Don't share information you don't want the AI to retain and use. Please do not share your account ID or password.
Mehta said the AI can only access messages that directly refer to it. However, these messages could also be used to improve the quality of his AI.
