Meta AI begins rolling out to Indian users across WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook

AI News

Meta is finally rolling out its AI chatbot, Meta AI Assistant, to Indian users through its applications like WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and a separate website called Meta.AI. Notably, Facebook's parent company had announced Meta AI over two months ago and made it available in countries like Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. However, India was not the first target for the Meta AI rollout, likely due to the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Meta AI is available in searches across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. Additionally, users can also get insights from Meta AI while scrolling through posts in the Facebook app. This AI assistant also comes with real-time search results from Microsoft and Google, so you can call it up in a group chat to get a real-time overview of things like planning a trip or finding the least crowded route to a destination.

Like other AI assistants on the market, Meta AI can easily perform basic tasks like composing emails, writing poetry, summarizing texts, translating texts between different languages, etc. The AI assistant can also create images and GIFs in the chat window.

What's most special about Meta AI is that all of its new AI features are available directly within popular apps like WhatsApp and Messenger, meaning users don't need to access a separate app like ChatGPT or Gemini just to get AI assistance.

Meta AI is set to begin rolling out today, but we were unable to find the AI assistant on WhatsApp, Instagram, or Facebook across various devices. Additionally, when visiting the Meta AI website, we were also greeted with the message “Meta AI is not yet available in your country,” suggesting that the AI assistant may be rolled out to users in stages.
