Mbzuai and MIT Schwarzman College of Computing Launch AI Research Collaboration

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, October 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -The University for MohamedBin Zayed University of Arthu (Mbzuai) and MIT Schwarzman College of Computing bring the latest advances in AI through scientific discovery, human prosperity, and planetary health, along with the launch of the MIT-Mbzuai Collaborative Research Program. The new research collaboration, published today, aims to strengthen the technical foundations of artificial intelligence and accelerate its use of scientific and social challenges in pressing challenges.

MIT – Mbzuai's collaborative research program brings together institutions to carry out shocking research projects that promote basic AI and its applications in three core areas: scientific discovery, human prosperity and global health.

The new agreement is consistent with the MIT Schwarzman College of Computing's computing goals and the goal of advancing computing across sectors, addressing the social and ethical responsibility of computing, which shapes its global impact. It also supports the UAE's mission to grow into a global innovation hub of comprehensive and shocking AI.

The faculty, students and research staff from both institutions will collaborate with research projects, each led by Mbzuai and MIT lead researchers. Le Song, Mbzuai's Machine Learning Professor, and Philip Isola, a 1948 career development professor at MIT's Bureau of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, will serve as academic directors of the program on their respective campuses.

Professor Daniel Huttenlocher, the first dean of the MIT Schwarzman College of Computing, said: “The collaboration with Mbzuai reflects a common commitment to advancing AI in a responsible, inclusive, and globally impactful way.
