Maxar announces Sentry Suite to provide global scale predictive intelligence and monitoring

Maxar Intelligence has announced the launch of Sentry, a new permanent surveillance suite designed to provide predictive intelligence on a global scale. The product integrates advanced AI, machine learning and geospatial fusion to support real-time operational and threat awareness across land and oceans.

The Sentry consists of two core products: Site Sentry and Maritime Sentry, tailored to the monitoring of the land infrastructure and vast maritime zones. Both solutions allow users to simultaneously observe hundreds of locations or thousands of square kilometers of oceans.

The suite utilizes Maxar's extensive 250+ petabyte archive of extremely high-resolution satellite images collected over 20 years. This geospatial data trains AI and machine learning models to detect historical patterns and identify mission-critical activities.

“For many customers, we are no longer able to provide permanent surveillance for one or two sites or limited geography. The world is changing too quickly, and we need to be able to identify mission-critical activities anywhere in the world.” “For the first time, Sentry is enabling us to maximize the potential of our space and provide predictive intelligence on a global scale.”

Sentry is equipped with three core automation technologies: task, production and analysis. Tasking uses Maxar's collection orchestration software to manage scheduling across a variety of satellite constellations, including electro-optic and SAR systems.

Production factors automate data processing from a variety of sensors to create dynamic, co-registered global views that can be adapted to analytics. Analytics applies AI models and third-party systems to detect related activities and patterns and is available via Maxar's Insights UI or a secure API.

“This is a game changer for customers to unlock new levels of decision-making advantage: identifying impending satellite launches before it occurs, and estimating potential threats to energy infrastructure following natural disasters,” Smoot added.

The technology behind Sentry has already proven successful in US defense programs, including the NGA's Luno A D01 task order. In that case, Maxar provided detection of AI/ML-generated objects within hours, identifying aircraft, vessels, vehicles and rail vehicles, and notifying threat assessments and anomaly detection.
