MakerDAO Unveils 5-Step Roadmap Featuring Funding for Open Source AI Projects

AI News

MakerDAO, the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) behind the Dai stablecoin and its associated Maker governance token, recently announced plans to develop a new blockchain, including a heavy focus on artificial intelligence (AI) technology. , announced a number of planned updates to the ecosystem. .

The new roadmap details a five-stage project called “Endgame,” starting with an upgrade to unify the organization’s brand.

According to a post on the official forums written by MakerDAO co-founder Rune Christensen, Phase 1 of Endgame will see a “complete rebranding” merging the Dai (DAI) and Maker (MKR) brands. It is planned to be

“Importantly, Dai and MKR remain unchanged,” wrote Christensen. MakerDAO plans to store both tokens in their current format. However, the organization plans to add two new tokens with updated functionality, temporarily called “NewStable” and “NewGovToken”.

Christensen elaborated on this in reply to a comment on the post.

“Dai will remain a no-frills, no-frills OG stablecoin whose liquidity will always be bootstrapped by an unlimited 1:1 conversion to NewStable.”

Going forward, the “Endgame Major Product Launch” will include the eventual launch of six “Maker SubDAOs” and accompanying NewStable token farms.

The sub-DAO will be split into a facilitator DAO and an allocator DAO, which according to Christensen aims to streamline “the workload and complexity that Maker governance needs to manage.”

Phase 3 of the roadmap is all about AI. MakerDAO plans to launch several in-house AI tools to optimize governance tasks such as monitoring and data siloing.

Alongside the planned launch of AI tools, MakerDAO will enter the open source AI development space with a project titled “The Purpose Fund”.

Chistensen said the initiative is a “free, open-source AI initiative to help impactful industries and projects take advantage of AI’s efficiency gains and harness AI to achieve more self-sustainable impact.” It promotes and funds “models and free AI tools.”

The fourth phase of Endgame involves the development of an incentive program for ecosystem residents called the ‘Governance Participation Incentive’. The program includes gamification and rewards to encourage interaction on the MakerDAO platform.

Finally, the organization plans to create its own blockchain, now called “NewChain”. Rather than replace the Ethereum blockchain that currently powers the MakerDAO platform, NewChain will be bridged.

According to Christensen, “This means that on Ethereum, NewStable and NewGovToken, Dai and MKR will continue to function as normal, the only change being that they will be protected by a governance backend that operates through a secure network. It is a state-of-the-art bridge.”

A key feature cited as driving new blockchain implementations is the ability to use hard forks as a governance mechanism in the event of an attack or abuse of power by majority holders.
