Luma AI Enters the Visual AI Field with Dream Machine to Take on OpenAI's Sora: Watch

AI Video & Visuals

US-based startup Luma AI has entered the visual AI battlefield to compete with companies like OpenAI's Sora. Luma AI has announced a new tool called Dream Machine, with just one difference: Dream Machine is free and publicly available, so it won't empty your wallet. According to Luma AI, Dream Machine is a next-generation video model that uses AI to create high-quality, realistic shots from natural language prompts.

The description on the website reads: “Dream Machine is an AI model that quickly creates high-quality, lifelike videos from text and images.”

The company claims that Dream Machine can generate 120 frames per second and iterate rapidly. The tool is said to be able to create smooth motion, cinematography, and dramatic five-second shots, and to experiment with a variety of fluid, cinematic, and natural camera movements. However, Dream Machine has limitations. The official website lists morphing, motion, text, and Janus as current limitations.

Enough about the tools, let's look at some of the deliverables.

Another example is a close-up shot of an eye: if you look at the detail, you can see how far AI has come.

This looks like something out of a fantasy movie with an evil villain.
