This development signals an ongoing shift in how universities structure teaching, assessment, and delivery in response to AI.
AI-driven delivery model replaces traditional lectures
The London School of Innovation delivers lecture-free courses using virtual AI instructors assigned to each student. The system tailors content based on an individual’s background, pace, and learning preferences, and provides continuous formative assessment through quizzes, simulations, and feedback.
“Virtual AI instructors teach knowledge instead of traditional lectures,” the agency said.
Students engage with course material through an online platform that includes content delivered in multiple formats, including video, text, audio, and interactive dialogue. Human professors focus on discussion, collaborative problem solving, and one-on-one support rather than providing core instruction.
Regulatory approval obtained after multi-year evaluation
The Office for Student Affairs evaluated the institution over several years, including a review by an independent panel of higher education experts. This process examined governance, academic standards, course content, and student outcomes.
The London School of Innovation confirms that the regulator has found its model and plans to be reliable before granting degree awarding powers. This status allows institutions to design and award their own degrees without approval from existing universities.
Founded by technology entrepreneurs driving AI and EDTECH ventures
London School of Innovation was founded by Somayeh Aghnia and Paymon Khamooshi, entrepreneurs with over 20 years of experience in software engineering, AI and education technology.
The two previously co-founded Geeks Ltd, a London-based software company focused on AI-driven digital transformation, developing enterprise systems and automation tools for organizations across a variety of sectors. We also launched WordUp, an AI-powered language learning platform designed to deliver personalized learning at scale.
Their move into higher education builds on previous work at the intersection of AI and learning. The founders started working on the concept in 2019, positioning it as a long-term alternative to traditional delivery models rather than a pilot or add-on.
Emphasis on graduate and professional education
The institute will initially focus on graduate programs, including master’s degrees in digital innovation, entrepreneurship and AI for business transformation, alongside executive and professional courses.
The first group of degree students is expected to start in June 2026, with undergraduate programs expected to start at a later stage.
The London School of Innovation says its aim is to develop leaders who can apply AI across business and organizational contexts, with a focus on real-world applications rather than academic theory.
