According to the Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology (CADT), having unique skills such as robotics, machine learning and artificial intelligence can be a differentiator in a competitive employment environment. CADT, the Government Technology Center, aims to advance Cambodia's digital governance and digital economy.
The main purpose of the center is to serve as a digital literacy training institute for civil servants and government leaders. Also, as a Government Technology Center, it provides consulting services and technology development to government agencies to “enable Cambodia to establish digital governance that improves the quality of life of its citizens and builds trust through better public service providers.” We are also aiming for
CADT currently offers a Bachelor's degree in Digital Business and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. Training programs offered by CADT include training programs for chief information officers (CIOs), essential digital skills training programs, leading digital government transformation training programs, and professional skills training programs. In the Digital Skills Essentials program, students learn about cybersecurity, social media information literacy, and data literacy. In the Professional Skills Program, students learn about her Cyber Ops, ethical hacking, penetration testing, network management, software development, digital design and communications, and digital project management.
CADT has a think tank that conducts in-depth research and research on digital governance and the impact of government policies. The think tank will work to ensure that different aspects of Cambodian society work together, including connectivity infrastructure, payment infrastructure, post office, and cybersecurity. The think tank also wants to ensure cooperation between governments and digital technology companies. We will create an environment that fosters digital startups.
CADT said its research and development arm will include research and innovation in data science and AI, a technology transfer incubator, technology hackathons, digital technology consulting and entrepreneurship building for students.
A hackathon, also known as a codefest, is a social coding event where computer programmers come together to improve and build new software programs. However, CADT is hard at work developing both software and hardware, as in the case of the robots that students help build when they hold hackathons. CADT believes that the competitive environment of hackathons helps students come up with new ideas. They can also pick up skills such as problem-solving that can be used later in their career. The institute said it will display some of its models, including robots with motor skills and the ability to execute commands, and students will receive hands-on training at the institute. The institute has also helped students devise machines that help automate fields such as agriculture.
In its mission statement, CADT says, “We aim to provide researchers, instructors, students, start-ups, and the public and private sectors with the tools and skills they need to succeed in the digital age.” says.
CADT said it regularly holds digital technology conferences, workshops on tool training, and STEM clubs. He also has a resource hub that provides online learning and content for people with full-time jobs.
