College Station, Texas (KRHD) – Texas A&M University's Maze Business School is aiming to equip students with the skills to leverage AI technology in the workplace this fall, introducing new minors to “Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Business.”
“When the calculators came out, mathematicians didn't go away. It made them operational efficiency more efficient. It's the same way as AI,” said Shubh Bhakta, a sophomore at Texas A&M University.
Artificial intelligence continues to grow rapidly, creating new opportunities and challenges for businesses seeking to implement technology effectively.
“I think people are finally beginning to realize how valuable it is and how applicable it can be,” said Oliviano Yora, another sophomore at Texas A&M University.

New AI and business miners will focus on generating efficiency through artificial intelligence, helping students identify ways in which companies can better utilize technology.
“Some of the busy work, the autonomous agent AI you set up can do for you, and the miners of the business really help you do it,” Bhakta said. “So that would be great.”
15 ABC We asked both Bhakta and Noyola how this viewed career preparation in the business every time their time at A&M ended.
“I'll leave with this unique blend of business skills and AI,” Noyora said. “It helps AI to improve efficiency, solve problems faster and recognize the space where it can allocate time to something more important.”

For Mays Business School, integrating AI into the curriculum represents a strategic area of focus.
“This minor is like the beginning of more things in the future as the business world is changing and we want to prepare these students,” said Arnold Castro, AI assistant dean at Mays Business School. “Because they're products, we want them to be ready to run and be very employable.”

The program is intended to educate the workforce that will shape the future of business.
“People are looking for employers and employees who can bridge this gap between business needs and AI solutions. We are really looking forward to what this will look like in the workforce through these cases and projects that allow miners to work with us,” Noyora said.
AI and Business Minor will begin this fall with four courses, with the fifth course added in spring 2026, and will develop into an online certificate program that is available to everyone.
