LOS ANGELES – Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones has criticized the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in music production. As the use of AI grows in the music industry, the 49-year-old lead singer said, “Art should come from humans.” Jones told Times Radio at Latitude Festival after playing with new band Far From Saints on Sunday. He also questioned the practice of using multiple songwriters for a single song. The Welshman said he didn’t realize until he attended the Ivor Novello Awards that AI technology was increasingly being used to “end people making songs”. “I am not against advanced technology or progress, but I think art should come from people. “I think art is always an expression of someone, an expression from a real human heart and head.
“You start an idea and the computer finishes it. That’s fine, but it’s about algorithms and stuff.”
