In January 2026, King’s College London Students’ Union (KCLSU) published its AI Manifesto.
Throughout the first term of this academic year (2025/26), students at King’s College London (KCL) took part in workshops to discuss their views on artificial intelligence (AI).
KCLSU Vice-Chancellor (Graduate Studies) Sheeba Naaz made it her mission to put together a manifesto outlining how KCL students should use AI.
Sheeba partnered with TASK Student Partners (Transforming King’s Student Assessment) to create the AI Taskforce.
The five key principles of the resulting manifesto reflect the values that students most commonly spoke about during the workshop.
- Integrity – We strive to prioritize deep learning and skills development for students and staff alike. AI is a tool, not a replacement
- Adaptability – To remain effective and teach skills relevant to students’ futures, teaching methods and policies must adapt.
- Clarity – students “must be transparent about AI assistance” and staff must provide “specific guidelines for acceptable AI use”
- Ethics – requires a “commitment to fairness, privacy, intellectual property, sustainability, and reducing social and algorithmic bias.”
- Collaboration – Staff and students need to work together when implementing the use of AI
It is hoped that the resulting manifesto will help prioritize and clarify issues related to the use of AI in KCL.
roar reported in January that 10 students have been expelled for AI abuse since 2022, with 60% of students reporting using AI to summarize reading and 57% admitting to using AI to generate ideas for assessments.
